I am immensely proud of The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company. It was created 26 years ago to headline our annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival. It has gone from strength to strength, receiving outstanding reviews from the national press including five stars awarded by the Daily Mail for the 2014 Princess Ida.
Our 2019 season offers the best programme to date with four all time favourites, “The Pirates of Penzance”, “The Mikado”, “The Yeomen of the Guard” and “The Gondoliers”
The Opera Company is completely self-sufficient and does not receive a penny of public funding. I don’t think there are many other opera companies of a similar stature who can say that today!
All our performances are accompanied by the National Festival Orchestra who have been with us since our very first show back in 1994. Today the company continues to headline the International G&S Festival but its quality has been recognised by many other major UK theatres and it will tour many of them this autumn.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our venues this year. You can be sure of a fun-filled evening with simply the very best entertainment.
